Simone McLeod is a Cree-Ojibway artist and a member of James Smith Cree Nation in Saskatchewan. Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Simone has been drawn to artistic expression since the age of thirteen, although she did not begin painting seriously until later in life. Her creative journey began with explorations in pencil, ink, charcoal, and pastels, focusing primarily on portraits and wildlife.

For Simone, painting is a deeply personal and meaningful practice. She believes that artistic expression must come from a place of purpose and connection, a philosophy that continues to guide her work today. Reflecting on her creative process, Simone explains, “Painting was something that I often thought of when I was a small child, but I felt that it was not the right time. I believed that I had to wait until I could find something that had a lot of meaning to me. Each painting contains a piece of my soul. I have a strong faith in humankind and my paintings are silent prayers of hope for the future.”

Her artwork is known for its vibrant colours, spiritual themes, and messages of hope, healing, and connection. Through her paintings, Simone seeks to inspire reflection and optimism while sharing perspectives rooted in her Indigenous heritage and personal experiences.

Simone's work has found homes in private and public collections around the world, including the Netherlands, Wales, Austria, France, Greece, South Africa, India, New Zealand, Japan, and Canada. She currently resides in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where she continues to paint full-time and share her artistic vision with audiences both nationally and internationally.
