North of Fifty First Nations & Metis Art Store

The site features Métis and First Nations designed wearable art, home decor, jewelry and gift ideas.

Each product represents the original artwork and has been approved by the artist or the artist's estate before production.

100% of the art is reproduced in collaboration with the artist and royalties are paid to the artist for each item sold.

We ship from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada. TJ and North of Fifty are grateful to the Secwepemc First Nation, on whose traditional territory we live, work, and play.

We usually ship within a couple of days.  Due to the potential service disruption at Canada Post, we are currently using UPS and Purolator for all shipments.

At this time, we are unable to ship to the United States, but we do have a sister website dedicated to our US customers. The selection is not as extensive, nor exactly the same as this website, but please check it out:  https://www.canadianartgifts.com

Occasionally an item may be on backorder, especially during the busy Christmas season (September through November) which means it can take longer for orders to ship. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for delivery, longer for ALL WALL ART.

302-160 Harbourfront Drive - Salmon Arm, BC - V1E 3M3 - Admin Office - We are home based, so please call before popping by, to ensure we are around.

    FAQ:

Do artists receive royalties or compensation for the reproduction of their work on these products?  Yes. The artist's have contracts with the manufacturer and distributor and I am not privy to the details of those agreements so please do not ask me how much they receive. Really, that's none of my business.

I love  your products but do not want to be disrespectful. I am concerned about cultural appropriation. The products sold here are for everyone! The artists want to make authentic Indigenous design accessible to all.  This is a question that comes up so often, I wrote a blog post about it.

Your items are designed in Canada. Are they made here, too?   All our items feature the original artwork of Indigenous artists and many of our products are also made in Canada. This link will take you to all the products we carry that are manufactured in Canada.  Paper products are usually printed in Canada. All Limited Edition Artwork is made in Canada. A lot of our jewelry is handcrafted in Canada.  100% of our suppliers are 100% Canadian companies.

How long does delivery take?  We usually ship your item(s) within a day or two. Add to that, the busy holiday season (July to December) sometimes inventory is en-route to us, so it may be a week to ten days before we put your order in the mail. This is not common, but it does happen. If you require your order by a specific date, please get in touch so we can let you know how soon it will ship.

Once your parcel has gone to Purolator or UPS, we have no control over how long it takes to get to you. But, based on our experience, within North America,  parcels arrive within a week to ten days (allow a bit more time if you live quite rural).

There are a lot of variables that determine how long it takes for an item to get to you. If your item is going to an address in British Columbia or Alberta, you should get it pdq. If you live in a major center, you'll get it faster than if you live rural. If it is November or December, couriers are going to be super busy and you should expect delays.

How come your shipping charges are so expensive?  If you are asking this question, you have not shipped anything lately ;-).  We suggest ordering quantity versus one item as this gives you the best value on shipping costs.

What's your return policy?  You can return anything for any reason within 15 days of receiving it, as long as it hasn't been used or damaged and it is still in the original packaging. In other words, it has to be in re-saleable condition. Since we've just talked about the cost of shipping, full disclosure, the cost to return an item is on you, the purchaser. Once we receive your item back, we will refund you for that item. Shipping charges are not refundable.

Important Tariff Information for US Customers:

Thank you for your interest in our products. We truly appreciate your support.  Unfortunately, due to recent changes in U.S. import regulations, we are temporarily unable to ship orders to the United States. The new tariff rules now require all duties and tariffs to be paid before parcels cross the border. At this time, there is no practical system in place for small Canadian businesses to remit these fees directly to the U.S. government.

As a result, Canada Post is not accepting parcels to the U.S. unless the sender uses specialized third-party software to process and prepay tariffs. This software costs approximately $2,400 plus ongoing transaction fees, an expense that is not feasible for small, independent businesses like ours. While large corporations can absorb this cost, it’s simply beyond the reach of many “mom-and-pop” operations.

Because of this, we have had to suspend U.S. shipping for now. We are monitoring the situation closely and hope that a more affordable solution becomes available soon.

In the meantime, we do have another website that ships to the U.S.: CanadianArtGifts.com.  It currently offers a smaller selection, but we’re adding new products regularly, and you may find something you’ll enjoy there.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support — it means a lot to us.
