Tracey Metallic

Tracey Metallic is a Mi'gmaq artist born and raised along the shores of the Restigouche River in Eastern Canada. She lives in the community of Listuguj, located within the Mi'gmaq territory of Gespe'gewagi, where she remains deeply connected to her culture, community, and traditions.

Tracey holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Social Work from St. Thomas University, as well as a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she is a founding member of Pugwalesg, a Mi'gmaq women's hand drum group dedicated to celebrating and sharing Mi'gmaq culture through music and community.

Her artistic journey began as a form of personal healing and creative expression. Initially painting cartoon characters for her grandchildren, Tracey discovered that art provided a meaningful therapeutic outlet. After sharing her work on social media, she began receiving requests for commissioned pieces, leading her to explore and develop her distinctive style of abstract painting.

Today, Tracey's artwork reflects her creativity, personal experiences, and connection to the world around her. Through colour, movement, and emotion, she creates works that resonate with viewers while celebrating the power of art as a tool for expression, healing, and connection.
